Pfc. Norman J. "Chief" Janis, a Sioux Indian, who first fought as a member of the 32nd Division in Buna, New Guinea, displayed his marksmanship anew in a battle near Lagang Ga. He killed seven Japanese soldiers with seven shots from his M-1 Garand, which he called “Betsy.” Norman J. Janis is from kyle, South Dakota.
